Post-punk artist Peter Murphy has released a new remix of his track “Swoon,” produced by the US dream-pop duo Magic Wands. The track, originally featured on Murphy’s eleventh studio album Silver Shade, is available now via Metropolis Records.
The original version of “Swoon” was released in February 2025 as the lead single from Silver Shade. The recording session included contributions from Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails on backing vocals and producer Youth, who also worked on the album at his studio in Spain. The album represents a continuation of the collaboration between Murphy and Youth, following their previous work on the 2014 album Lion.
The new iteration of the song by Magic Wands – comprised of Dexy and Chris Valentine – seeks to reimagine the track’s original emotional tone with an emphasis on synth and guitar textures. The remix was released on May 29, 2026, and is accompanied by a music video. Both the audio and the video are currently available through standard streaming platforms and the artist’s official Bandcamp page.
Peter Murphy’s career spans over four decades, beginning with his tenure as the frontman of the influential post-punk band Bauhaus in 1979. His solo discography, which includes records such as Should The World Fail To Fall Apart, has continued to develop through various collaborations in the post-punk and gothic rock genres.
