Emmon Collaborates with The Foreign Resort on New Post-Punk Remix of ‘Speak to Me’

by coldwarnightlife

Swedish darkwave artist Emmon has released a new remix of her single “Speak to Me,” reinterpreted by Copenhagen-based post-punk trio The Foreign Resort. Released on July 24th through the label Icons Creating Evil Art, the track marks the second preview from Emmon’s upcoming remix album, ICONMIXED.

A Shift from Electronic to Post-Punk

While the original version of “Speak to Me”—originally featured on Emmon’s album ICON—is rooted in dark electronic music, the new remix by The Foreign Resort shifts the arrangement toward guitar-driven alternative rock. The Danish trio replaced the original’s synthesizers with analogue textures, cavernous reverb, saturated guitars, and live drums, concluding with a metal-inspired guitar solo.

Background on the Artists

Emmon, the solo electronic project of Swedish artist Emma Nylén, has been a prominent figure in the Scandinavian synth scene. The Foreign Resort is an active touring act known for combining melodic new wave, post-punk, and shoegaze, drawing stylistic comparisons to acts like The Cure and Joy Division.

About the Upcoming Remix Album

The remix follows a previous electronic version of the track by Swiss-German duo SIIE. The upcoming remix LP, ICONMIXED, invites a diverse group of alternative and electronic artists to reinterpret tracks from Emmon’s catalog. The Foreign Resort’s remix is available now on all major digital streaming and download platforms.
