Electronic music act Priest has announced the release of their upcoming fifth studio album, titled Altered State Police. The album is scheduled to be released on October 23 through the Blue Nine record label.
The forthcoming record is described as a conceptual journey focusing on themes of surveillance, technology, identity, and control. Musically, the release features a blend of synthpop and industrial electronics, alongside production elements influenced by 1990s big beat music. The band’s management indicated that the album’s title track functions as the primary thematic centerpiece of the track list, which has been arranged to be experienced as a cohesive, continuous listen.
Visual and Mask Reveal Scheduled
Ahead of the official album release, the project is also set to undergo a visual transition. The group has announced an “Identity Update” scheduled for October 1, which will unveil new performance masks and updated press photography. This update follows what the band described as a completed “beta testing” phase for their new stage presentation.
Altered State Police marks the latest installment in Priest’s expanding dystopian narrative universe, continuing the electronic trajectory established in their previous four studio albums.
