Swedish darkwave artist Emmon has released a new remix of her single “Speak to Me,” reworked by Copenhagen-based trio The Foreign Resort. Released on July 24 through the Swedish independent record label Icons Creating Evil Art, the track represents a genre shift from the original’s synthesizer-heavy production to an analogue, guitar-driven arrangement.
An Analogue Reimagining
The new single is part of the promotional campaign for Emmon’s upcoming remix album, titled ICONMIXED. The forthcoming project features various alternative and electronic artists offering new interpretations of tracks from her previous studio album, ICON. This latest release follows an earlier electronic remix of “Speak to Me” by the Swiss-German duo SIIE.
Rather than executing a traditional electronic remix, The Foreign Resort completely restructured the song’s instrumental backing. The Danish trio substituted the original electronic beats with live drums, atmospheric reverb, distorted guitars, and a guitar solo inspired by classic thrash metal bands like Slayer. According to the band, the decision to shift the genre of the track was intended to explore the stylistic crossover between dark wave electronics and analogue post-punk.

Active for over a decade, The Foreign Resort consists of a Copenhagen-based lineup known for combining dark new wave, post-punk, and shoegaze. The band has built an international touring presence across Europe and North America. Emmon, the musical project of Emma Maria Nylén, has long been a fixture of the Swedish synth music scene, known for her energetic live performances and uptempo electronic releases.
