Portion Control Shares Live Single

British electronic and industrial group Portion Control has announced the upcoming release of a comprehensive archival box set, titled 1983-86 – Hit The Pulse to Purge…, scheduled for release on August 14, 2026, through Artoffact Records. To coincide with the announcement, the band has released the project’s second preview single, a live rendition of “Tex-Mex” recorded at the Dolce Vita venue in Lausanne, Switzerland, on December 6, 1985.

The incoming box set marks the first major retrospective release from the group since signing with Artoffact Records in late 2025. The collection spans four CDs and digital formats, containing 77 tracks in total. The release features fully remastered versions of their 1983 mini-LP Hit The Pulse, the full-length albums ..Step Forward (1984) and Psycho Bod Saves The World (1986), alongside classic 12-inch singles, the Purge EP, and various demos, remixes, and live performances. Out of the 77 tracks, 16 are previously unreleased, and an additional 12 will make their CD and digital debut. The remastering process was handled by Paul Lavigne at Kontrast Mastering, and the package includes a 24-page booklet with archival photos designed by Stefan Alt.

The latest single, “Tex-Mex (Live at Dolce Vita, Lausanne 1985),” is accompanied by archival performance footage. The track itself was originally recorded during the sessions for ..Step Forward at Guerilla Studios in Little Venice, London, utilizing equipment owned by electronic artist William Orbit. A limited-edition red vinyl LP featuring ten selected tracks from the collection will also be available alongside the box set.

Formed in London in 1979, Portion Control is recognized as an early pioneer of the electro-industrial genre. Their innovative application of synthesisers, samplers, and drum machines during the early 1980s went on to influence a wide array of subsequent electronic and industrial artists, including Depeche Mode, Nitzer Ebb, and Front Line Assembly.
