Malmö-based record label Kontra-Musik has announced the release of Ulf Och Andreas – EP 1, a collaborative project by label founder Ulf Eriksson and Swedish producer Andreas Tilliander.
Though the pair have worked together closely for nearly two decades through Tilliander’s releases on the label – most notably under his TM404 alias – this record marks their first official collaborative production credit.
The EP represents a merging of Eriksson’s experience as a DJ and curator with Tilliander’s hardware-driven production background. According to the artists, the project was born out of a desire to create simple, functional electronic music heavily inspired by classic Detroit house and techno.
The four-track release features a distinct range of electronic styles:
- “Hus”: A stripped-back, minimal house track driven by a spare rhythm and subtle synth filtering.
- “Hunnahue”: A track highlighting classic Detroit-influenced synth lines, dampened percussion, and claps.
- “Triangelen”: A loop-based, raw track incorporating industrial synth textures and an evolving acid-like rhythm.
- “Tusen Ålar”: A concluding ambient piece utilizing dubby, metallic sound design and distorted keys.
Eriksson and Tilliander have discussed collaborating for nearly a decade, with the initial studio sessions dating back several years in Stockholm. In an accompanying interview, Eriksson, who also serves as the Artistic Director for Malmö’s Inkonst venue and the Intonal festival, noted that the project allowed him to explore a simpler, more dancefloor-focused aesthetic away from his daily experimental programming duties.
