Rare Video of the Week

With the release of The Crackdown in 1983, Cabaret Voltaire broke out of the indie box and gate-crashed the dance music party.

The band that excelled at industrial sound had hinted at their interest in funk, but it was with their first major label release that they shifted the balance in favour of the dance floor. With lashings of paranoia and a subversive rhythm section, the Cabs set the tone for the arrival of 1984.

This video captures them at the height of their powers.
